Hydrangeas

I love how abundant hydrangea flowers are, they’re a waterfall of colour.

Hydrangeas stay in bloom for most of the year, flowering earlier in spring the warmer the climate and remaining until autumn, their beauty lasts for us all to enjoy the whole summer long. Their longevity also means that the flowers press well - I hope I can find the time to press some this year.

Many types of hydrangeas change colour depending on the minerals present in the soil and different types of hydrangeas turn different colours in the same conditions; the most vibrant purple hydrangeas are usually purple in the same conditions that would cause blue flowers in other varieties.

Magically, hydrangea flowers are associated with the moon and are particularly useful for breaking hexes. Having hydrangeas growing in your garden can redirect any curses that are placed on you.
